The Science of Tapping: Acupuncture Meets Psychology

EFT works by combining two powerful elements:
1. Focused Attention: You gently voice and focus on a specific problem (e.g., "this anxiety in my chest" or "this memory of feeling not good enough"). This activates the stress response in the brain's amygdala.
2. Somatic Stimulation: While focusing, you use your fingertips to tap on endpoints of the body's energy meridians (like under the eye, side of the hand, and under the collarbone).

This combination sends a calming signal directly to the brain's alarm center (the amygdala), telling it, "It's safe to stand down". It effectively short-circuits the stress response while the problem is "active" in your system, allowing the memory or trigger to be stored without its emotional charge.
